Interim Head Coach John O'Shea reported a clean bill of health in his squad at this morning's MD-1 press conference ahead of the international friendly against Switzerland.

U-21 duo Joe Hodge and Andy Moran trained with the group this morning and will be in contention for tomorrow night's match.

MD-1 Press Conference v Switzerland | Interim Head Coach John O'Shea

"My remit was to focus on these two games. If my remit beforehand was, 'John you're the full-time new manager', it might have been a different situation. The focus for me was, 'these two games John, look after these games and see what happens then.

“I am focusing on the last game against Switzerland, my focus has been on that right from the start when this process started.

“Two games, I am focused on that, get the best from the boys, bring this group together with the staff, getting the lads to know my staff as quickly as possible, and getting the bond together quickly, going into two games where you know you'll face challenges, but two games where you know you can get good results too.”

MD-1 Press Conference v Switzerland | Defender Dara O'Shea

"I think this week, it has been very clear on how the coaching staff want us to play. Like the manager has said, we want to be play compact and not let the opposition play through us.

"Also, have that aggressive side to us, try and impose ourselves in games and on the opposition, and press higher up the pitch, and it's worked well really.

"I think we saw that in the game against Belgium on Saturday, some good moments, some key moments where we pressed them up high and did things we wanted to do and keep on doing.

"It was quite easy for us at the back with the responsibility we were given for us to step in and to be comfortable with an extra body back there, going up high and winning the ball."
