Day 1 Round-Up | 2026 FAI Amateur Inter-Provincial Tournament

The first day of the 2026 FAI Amateur Inter-Provincial Tournament produced five goals across two games with Munster jumping to the top of the leaderboard.

Leinster FA 2-2 Connacht FA
The first goal of the night arrived on 26 minutes in Dry Arch Park when Connacht's Liam Murray connected with a pass from Maree Oranmore club-mate Ger O'Riordan to convert.

Leinster hit back early in the second half with New Oak forward Dean Kelly finding the back of the net on 52 minutes to spark the game back to life.

Finglas United attacker Dean Ivory then fired Leinster into the lead on 68 minutes when he latched onto an assist from substitute Marv Ivie.

Connacht did not give up and their resilience was rewarded when Colm Whelan pounced deep into added time to ensure the points were shared.

Munster FA 1-0 Ulster FA
In Diamond Park, a single goal on 54 minutes from Eoin Murphy proved to be the difference as Munster held off Ulster in an entertaining contest.

There was nothing between the teams in the first period but the introduction of Newmarket Celtic ace Eoin Hayes gave Munster an added zip to their play.

It was Hayes who found Murphy inside the opening minutes after the interval and the Rockmount man did not need to be asked twice to apply the finish.

Ulster battled hard throughout but this game belonged to Jason Purcell's team who collected a win that could prove vital as the tournament rolls on.
