Breaking Down Barriers: Ireland's CP Team Set for European Championship Challenge

Ireland's Cerebral Palsy (CP) Men's National Team are making their final preparations to travel to England next week for the IFCPF European Championships, in a tournament that represents the pinnacle of their hard work and dedication to breaking down barriers.

The Championships, which kick off on August 16th at the prestigious Loughborough University, will see Ireland test themselves against Europe's elite. They have been drawn in a competitive group alongside Scotland, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Under the guidance of Manager Mick Doyle and Head Coach Paul Smyth, supported by coach Alvin Rouse, the squad has undertaken a rigorous preparation schedule. They have tested themselves against a variety of teams in a series of tough friendly matches, facing off against Raheny United's Over-35s, Monaghan United, Raharney United, and Carrick Rovers to ensure they are tactically and physically ready for the challenge ahead.

The team's journey is powerfully captured in the recently released "Breaking Down Barriers" video, which you can watch now on FAI TV, which shines a light on the personal stories and incredible resilience of the players who proudly wear the green jersey. It serves as a testament to the squad's commitment and their role in inspiring the next generation of players.

The full squad for the tournament is set to be officially announced next week before the team departs for England. The entire Irish football community wishes the players and staff the very best of luck for the campaign.
