Dublin's Bluebell Knockmitten are the latest club to achieve the FAI Club Mark.

Knockmitten United was formed in 2008 with the amalgamation of local clubs Hillview United and Monksfield United.

The club adopted the blue colours to become Bluebell Knockmitten United for the Schoolboys/Schoolgirls in the community and the club has gone from strength to strength over the past 13 years.

Bluebell Knockmitten has developed a reputation over the years as a community club with an atmosphere as a place for players to develop. Many team managers have stuck with their groups and a number of players have remained at the club for the duration of their playing days.

The primary aim of the club is to develop technically gifted players who can play at the highest level of the game. Over the years, many players that have come out of the club academy to represent some of the elite schoolboy/schoolgirl teams in Dublin and also representing regional squads.

While the club has gone from strength to strength, they have not forgotten what makes them strong: Their Community. In 2016, Bluebell Knockmitten's U12's SDFL side achieved an unbeaten league season and also claimed the Stanno Cup. The U12 DDSL side reached the Farry Cup Final while the club’s U17's reached the SDFL Cup Final. The 2003 age group has won several league titles and the 2004 group has reached the SDFL Division.

In the 2016/2017 season, both the U13 teams (DDSL) reached cup semi-finals, the U16's won their mini-league while the U14's reached the last 16 of the All-Ireland before being defeated by eventual winners St Kevins Boys.

The club currently has over 15 teams and over 200 boys and girls registered. Facilities include three full-size pitches, a 9-a-side and 7-a-side pitches, dedicated Academy areas and is in the process of developing an all-weather pitch.

The club would like to thank the committee and all Club Members who contributed to the achieving of the FAI Club Mark. In particular they express thanks to Sam Doran who reformed the administrative side for the club to ensure standards are met and adhered to.

The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:

• Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’
• Establish and promote best practice
• Empower and support clubs
• Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards
• Increase a club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.
