WU19 | Review of 2022

A resilient streak epitomised the year for the Republic of Ireland Women's Under-19s as they responded to every challenge in a positive way.

After beating Russia twice in International Friendlies, Ireland narrowly missed out on qualification to the UEFA Women's Under-19 European Championships after losing to France in their Round 2 group.

Then they were paired with France again in the new season, this time trying to qualify for the 2022/23 tournament. While they lost to Les Bleus again, they made it through to Round 2 and maintain hope of achieving their dream.

There were many impressive performances by Dave Connell's team over the course of the year with captain Jessie Stapleton standing out - hence why she won the WU19 International Player of the Year award.
