WU19s squad selected for EURO qualifiers in Germany

The Ireland Women’s Under-19 squad has been announced for their upcoming UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship Round 2 Qualifiers in April.

The Girls in Green will utilise their experience from Round 1 in this next stage of the competition in the hopes of reaching the finals tournament for the third time.

Sixteen of the 20 players initially selected for the two International Friendlies against Switzerland earlier this month are included here, while DLR Waves forward Aisling Meehan makes the cut after being drafted in as a late replacement for that camp.

Athlone Town’s Emma Mooney and Treaty United midifelder Madison McGuane step up from the Ireland Women’s Under-17s after featuring in their recent UEFA EURO Qualifiers in Sweden.

The SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division will be heavily represented with 15 players named in the squad, including Treaty United’s Kate Jones who scored in her team’s recent win at home to Waterford.

In order to reach the finals tournament in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ireland will have to come out of a difficult group that includes Germany, France and Slovakia.

The opening two matches will be played in Uhlenkrug, Essen before the final game is staged in the IMS Arena in Velbert.
