REPORT | WU19 | Slovakia 2-1 Ireland

The Ireland Women's Under-19s finished their UEFA European WU19 Championship Round 2 qualifiers with a 2-1 loss to Slovakia in Velbert, Germany.

Athlone Town attacker Hazel Donegan scored Ireland's only goal as a brace from Terezia Soltysova secured the win for Slovaks in Group A6.

This was a game, though, that Ireland will feel that they deserved more from with 23 attempts on goal registered and rattling the woodwork twice.

Donegan opened the scoring just before half-time and Ireland held onto the lead until 61 minutes when Soltysova fired in to level matters. The Slovakia No 15 got her second goal on 84 minutes.

After losing to Germany and drawing with France, this was the game that Ireland hoped to secure a positive result from to move away from the bottom of their group but it wasn't to be.
