The Ireland Women's Under-17s got their UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship Qualifying campaign off to a winning start with a 16-0 victory over Azerbaijan.

There were 11 different goalscorers for Ireland with Mia Whelan, Ellen Goggin, Maisy Healy and Keela Donnelly Meehan each netting a brace.

The Girls in Green got off to a flying start in Rrogozhinë, Albania with Wexford forward Whelan firing in after nine minutes before Goggin doubled their lead on 12 minutes.

Shamrock Rovers duo Ciara Milton and Hailey Twomey scored one apiece to make it 4-0. Treaty United midfielder Goggin got her second on 22 minutes and then Healy converted her first seven minutes later.

Further goals arrived from Whelan, Ava Hallinan and Fiadh Woods to send Ireland into the break with a commanding lead in their opening game of Group B1.

Ireland started the second half with the same level of energy with substitute Alannah Mooney netting within four minutes of coming on before Zahra Ismayilova put the ball into her own net.

The goals kept on coming with Donnelly Meehan, Abbie Duffy, Eva Kelly and Healy all chipping in to make it a perfect start to qualifying.
