The Republic of Ireland Men’s Under-19s produced a dominant performance in Preddvor, Slovenia, this morning to secure a 5-0 victory over the Faroe Islands.

Noel Hunt’s side took total control of the friendly encounter in the first half through a quick-fire brace from Cillian Tollett. The striker opened the scoring in the 30th minute before doubling the advantage just six minutes later to give the Boys in Green a comfortable cushion at the interval.

Ireland maintained their high tempo in the second half. Charles Akinrintoyo added a third in the 59th minute, effectively putting the game out of reach of the Faroese. Despite a series of substitutions midway through the half, Ireland’s clinical edge remained.

Gavin McAteer found the net in the 74th minute to make it 4-0, and the scoring was rounded off in the 84th minute by Josh Cullen, capping off an impressive team display and a clean sheet for the Irish defence.
