The Young Boys in Green have a play-off place in their sights but to achieve this they must either defeat the back-to-back European Champions or better/equal the result of third-placed Slovakia who are away in Andorra.
Jim Crawford’s young side have won three qualifying games on the bounce and have gone from trailing second place by six points in March to being on equal points with Slovakia and holding a play-off place.
But they know they face a seriously impressive England team, which is coached by former Ireland senior international Lee Carsley and are yet to taste defeat this campaign.

Quotes
Ireland Men’s Under-21 Captain Seán Grehan said: “A lot of people probably would have written us off after our result in Andorra, which is understandable, but we’ve had some younger players come into the group and they’ve been excellent and added quality. We won the last three qualifiers and put ourselves in a position where a place in the play-offs is in our hands.”
Ireland Men’s Under-21 Head Coach Jim Crawford said: “We’ve done exceptionally well to put ourselves in this position. The players have got themselves in this position through hard work They know a big performance is required to get over the line. It’ll be a massive crowd in Turners Cross, a vocal crowd, and we’ll need them because it’s a huge game.”
