Manortown United pick up FAI Club Mark award

Manortown United are the latest club to be awarded the FAI Club Mark Entry Level award as the Perrystown club continues to develop.

The club, which has been in existence since 1969, and has teams competing in the Leinster Senior League and the Leinster Junior Cup & the FAI Junior Cup, have been awarded the FAI Club Mark as recognition of some of the brilliant work done by volunteers and officials at the club.

The club also has a successful under-age section through the years having provided a number of international players to most levels, including former Ireland striker Niall Quinn and Barry Quinn, who captained Ireland to victory in the U18 European Championship in 1998.

Manortown United currently have 18 teams in operation for the 2022/23 season including three schoolgirl sides with numbers continuing to rise for their Academy.

In addition to this, Manortown United play an important role in their community through their summer Manortown mini-leagues which attract over 250 children from the local and surrounding areas, meaning the club has an important connection to it's community.

"The club should be really proud of receiving this award and the amount of effort behind-the-scenes from the officials and volunteers has been fantastic," said FAI Development Officer Robbie De Courcy.

"Manortown United is a great community club and plays an important role in making sure the local area benefits from a great grassroots club which promotes inclusion and an active life-style from an early age.

"It's great to see Manortown receive the recognition they deserve with this award but I'm excited for what the future holds with the club as they will continue to improve and drive new standards at the club in the future."
