Letterkenny make football enjoyable for all

There is fantastic work being done in County Donegal to ensure that the Football For All Programme is rolled out and accessible to all communities. And Letterkenny Rovers are playing their part.

Having teamed up with the Donegal Sports Partnership and recieved the support of Watson Menswear Letterkenny, the club brought a whole new level fun for local players.

With the help of FAI Development Officer Paul Smyth, Letterkenny Rovers hosted their second Football For All development camp - that took place over a six-week block.

This was the second time that the Programme has been run by the club and it has grown in popularity with more children involved and more smiling faces around the place.

Donagh McMorrow, Club Mark Officer, said: "It's just so special to have the opportunity to run this programme in our community and it has been great to see the improvements these children have made in just 12 weeks.

"Getting the children all kitted out and coming out as a team from the changing rooms today was just great and goes that bit further to making them feel truly part of the club. We thank Leonard for his generosity and making this happen. We were delighted to hear of other clubs nearby that are now running Football For All and look forward to connecting with them for games as we grow."

A lot of credit should go to the coaching staff of Gerry McGroarty, Ann-Marie Simmons, Karen Browne, Caoimhe Crossan and Shane Bradley, while Club Chairman Dessie Kelly was heavily involved and local sponsor Leonard Watson made a big difference.
