Ireland squad updated for the Qatar and Canada fixtures

Republic of Ireland Men’s National Team Head Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson has issued an updated squad list following several injury-enforced changes and availability updates for the upcoming matches against Qatar and Canada.

Injuries have ruled out Middlesbrough duo Alan Browne and Alex Gilbert, while Southampton pair Finn Azaz and Ryan Manning have also been forced to withdraw. Additionally, Strasbourg defender Andrew Omobamidele will miss the window through injury.

To manage the squad across the two fixtures in Dublin and Montreal, several players have been added to the group with specific availability:

Qatar (Aviva Stadium) only: Defender Dara O’Shea and midfielder Jack Moylan return to the squad for the home fixture only. Moylan returns following his impressive debut hat-trick against Grenada in Murcia. Goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher will also be available for the Qatar match only.

Canada (Montreal) only: Charlton Athletic midfielder Conor Coventry and Bohemians’ Dawson Devoy will link up with the squad later this week specifically for the trip to Canada.

Both Fixtures: Hibernian midfielder Jamie McGrath and St. Mirren’s Killian Phillips have been called up for the duration of the international window.

Hibernian striker Owen Elding will also remain with the squad for training purposes. Elding will integrate with the senior environment while the final stages of his citizenship process is completed.

Ireland face Qatar at the Aviva Stadium this Thursday, May 28th, before travelling to face Canada on Friday, June 5th (local time).
