FAI thanks Government for Sports Equipment grants

The Football Association of Ireland has today thanked Ministers Catherine Martin and Jack Chambers and the Government for football’s €1.718m share of the €16.6m funding provided for sports equipment under the Sports Capital & Equipment Programme.

Grassroots football clubs and affiliates all across the country, and the Association itself, will benefit from the grants announced today by Ministers Martin and Chambers under the latest round of the programme.

The FAI has also welcomed the Government’s commitment to further capital investment in sport and the allocation of funding later in the year for capital projects under the Sports Capital & Equipment scheme.

Welcoming the announcement, FAI CEO Jonathan Hill said: “This news today represents further financial commitment from the Government to both the Association and our key Grassroots stakeholders in every county in Ireland and we thank the Ministers and the Department of Sport for their ongoing support for our game, particularly in these difficult COVID-19 times. We all know the impact the pandemic has had across every level of Irish football so these equipment grants from central Government and the capital project funding to come are most welcome.”
