CSSL Youth Soccer Festival ready to go

The popular Clare Schoolboys/Girls Youth Soccer festival takes place once again this weekend May 6th and 7th across County Clare.

The preparation event has run since 2008 and has grown from a 1 day, 4 team , 80 players event to now being a two-day, 28-team, 560-player event that is delivered across County Clare.

The 2023 event will see 15 Kennedy Cup Squads & 13 Gaynor Cup squads participate in a series of 43 games aimed at fine-tuning each league’s respective preparations for the annual SFAI Kennedy Cup & Gaynor Cup tournaments to be held at University of Limerick in June.

Speaking in relation to the 2023 event, FAI County Development Officer Denis Hynes stated: “The CSSL Youth Soccer Festival returns bigger and better in 2023 it has increased and grown in popularity since its inception in 2008, and credit must go to the positive partnerships that exist locally between both CSSL & CDSL , its clubs and Clare County Council and the Clare ISRS branch who all work together to ensure that the CSSL Youth Soccer Festival gets full attention over the weekend.

“The event also showcases the excellent facilities that we have across Co Clare. This year will see U14 Gaynor Cup section take place on Sunday morning at John O'Sullivan Park, Lees Road, while the high quality facilities at Lisdoonvarna Failte, Tulla United and the home of newly crowned FAI Junior Cup Champions Newmarket Celtic will host the Kennedy Cup action over both Saturday and Sunday. The excitement associated with Clare football in recent days will continue as many of the future stars from across the country will look to showcase their talent
