2006 Setanta Sports Cup

The Setanta Sports Cup was expanded in its second year to take in a total of eight clubs - four from the eircom League of Ireland and four from the Irish Carnegie Premier League.

To reflect the greater number of clubs participating in the event, the semi-finals were introduced into the tournament.

The Setanta Sports Cup trophy was to travel south in 2006, as Drogheda United claimed a narrow extra-time 1-0 victory over Cork City in the final.
