WU19: Connell's side set to host Elite Round games
Following a draw in Nyon, Ireland were allocated to Group 4 along with last year's champions Spain, as well as Austria and Turkey for games that will take place from April 2-10.
Connell (pictured above) will have three games to see if his team can top their group and qualify for next summer's finals in Switzerland.
The experienced head coach guided his 2014 squad all the way to the semi-finals in Norway, so he knows exactly what is required and will be hoping to build on the positives from their Qualifying Round games.
The Ireland Women's Under 17s, meanwhile, will have to travel to Germany for their Elite Round games in March as they take on the mini tournament hosts, as well as Azerbaijan and Iceland.
Preparations for the 2018/19 season can also begin as the WU19s learned that they will be paired with Faroe Islands, Lithuania and Ukraine in their Qualifying Round games that will take place in Lithuania from October 1-9.
The WU17s will be in Serbia for their Qualifying Round games that season to meet the mini tournament hosts along with Albania and Wales for the games that will be played between October 20-28.
The venues and kick-off times have yet to be confirmed.
