WNT will #LaceUpWithPride this June

The Republic of Ireland Women's National team have long stood up for what they believe in, so giving their support to LGBTI+ awareness during Pride Month in June 2021 made sense.

The Ireland players had already made some plans to support Pride Month, with captain Katie McCabe leading the way with exclusive photography using a rainbow-coloured captain's armband and shoe laces.

Then Aviva Ireland - a key sponsor of the Football Association of Ireland and of the WNT - wanted to work together to shine a light on the excellent work done by BeLonG - who help LGBTI+ young people around Ireland through youth, education and training.

As part of the initiative, Aviva sent an individual letter to each WNT player and a pair of rainbow laces (provided by INTERSPORT Elverys) to use ahead of their double-header friendly internationals away to Iceland.

Three WNT players - Áine O'Gorman, Eve Badana and Jamie Finn - had already worked with Aviva on a unique photoshoot to promote this project, so everything tied together nicely.

WNT Manager Vera Pauw was one of the first to lace up with pride after receiving her rainbow laces and many of the players followed suit to support some a worthy cause.
