U17 squad selected for UEFA qualifiers
Ireland will compete with mini-group hosts Malta along with Albania and Norway for the top two spots in the group which would advance them to the elite stage of the qualification series next year.
Morling succeeded Sean McCaffrey in the Under-17 managerial seat last month and has kept faith with the bulk of the squad that played three friendly matches at the Hungarian invitational tournament in August.
The Irish squad will assemble next week and spend two days training before departing for Malta, where they open their campaign against the host nation on Saturday week, September 25 (11am) at the Centenary Stadium, Ta' Qali where all six of the qualifiers will be staged.
Following that fixture, Ireland are back in action two days later against Albania (2pm) before concluding on the Thursday, September 30 by meeting Norway (2pm).
Included in the panel is last season's top scorer at Under-16 level, Kilkenny native Michael Drennan, who missed out on the friendlies in Hungary due to commitments with his new club Aston Villa.
Dublin schoolboy club Belvedere has the largest representation with four players - Pierce Sweeney, Darragh Lenihan, Sean Kavanagh and Eoin Hyland.
St. Joseph's Boys striker Sam Byrne, who is still eligible for Under-16 football, retains his place in the panel after impressing in Hungary.
