Squad announced for Wales and Scotland Qualifiers
Sue Ronan today named her squad to play in two vital UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 qualifiers versus Wales on June 16th (17:00) and Scotland on June 21st (19:30). Both matches will be played at Turner’s Cross in Cork.
Captain, Ciara Grant, will pick up her 102nd cap and Emma Byrne makes her return to the squad after missing the recent friendly with Switzerland due to injury. Leaving cert student and Cork native, Denise O’Sullivan, also takes her place in the squad after some excellent recent form and is joined by Limerick native, and former Cork player, Marie Curtin. Bus Eireann Women’s National League top scorer, Stephanie Roche is also included along with Cherelle Khassal who impressed on her debut appearance in Switzerland.
Sue Ronan said ‘The squad is improving all the time and we now have a great mix of youth and experience. We had a good run out against Switzerland last month and that will stand to us for these matches. We know what we need to do after losing in Edinburgh but we have real quality in this side and the girls are full of belief, If we get a large, vocal home crowd then there is no reason why we can’t get the points that we need from these matches.’
