Republic of Ireland senior women's manager, Sue Ronan has announced her squad for the upcoming EURO 2013 qualifiers against Wales and France on September 17 & 22 respectively.

Ireland kick-off their campaign at the Newport County Stadium on Saturday, September 17 at 6 p.m. against Wales who are currently ranked 47th in the FIFA World Rankings.

Five days later, Ireland will face World Cup semi-finalists, France in Turners Cross, Cork at 7.45 pm.

Included in the squad for the first time is highly rated goalkeeper, Eve Badana from Drexel College in Philadelphia while Wilton United starlet, Denise O'Sullivan from Cork recovers from injury to claim a place in the squad. Doncaster Belles midfielder, Áine O'Gorman is included in the squad to face France as she will serve a previous suspension for the game against Wales.

Speaking at the announcement, Sue Ronan said, "This is a very important time for the squad as we start a new campaign with two very difficult games. While Wales are below us in the FIFA ranking's, they are an improving force following the appointment of their new coach, Jarmo Matikainen from Finland. He has introduced a new style of play which is already showing improvement in the team's performances in such a short space of time. I have seen Wales play recent friendlies against Colombia and Northern Ireland and I can guarantee that we will not be taking them lightly."

Ronan added, "While all of our attention now is on the game in Newport, I am really looking forward to the France game in Turners Cross. People involved in the game in Cork will understand the commitment and enthusiasm for women's football throughout the county. The senior team played Kazakhstan in Turners Cross in 2009, in what was a very hard fought victory for them. While I was unable to attend the game due to my commitments with the Irish U19 team, I understand that the crowd played a vital part in getting behind the team which led to a very late winner being scored by Stephanie Roche to secure the 2-1 victory. We will be hoping for a big crowd in Cork and a similar atmosphere, in what will be a very tough game against France. They are now regarded as one of the best teams in the world after their performances in the recent Women's World Cup, when they were unfortunately knocked out in the semi-finals on penalties by the USA" she said.

Tickets for the EURO 2013 qualifier against France on September 22 in Turners Cross are priced at €5 for adults and €2 for children while there are also complimentary schoolboy/girl group tickets available by contacting info@fai.ie
