REPORT: WU17s fall to defeat against Finland

The Republic of Ireland Women's Under 17s fell to a 5-1 defeat to Finland Women's U18s in the first of two friendly games in Helsinki.
7th Sep 2016

Alannah McEvoy got the goal for Dave Bell's team, who produced some bright passages of play against a top class opponent, in what was a worthwhile fixture.

Ireland created a number of good chances on goal with Heather Payne, Carla McManus, and McEvoy getting in for some good attempts but couldn’t finish them off.

McEvoy did fire one past the Finnish goalkeeper on 17 minutes following good work by Tyler Toland, but the hosts proved to be too strong overall.

Ireland will take on the same opposition again on Friday and they will hope to make a number of adjustments to showcase their true potential.
