REPORT: Ireland U19 3-1 Austria U19
Tom Mohan's side added to their 1-0 win over the Austrians on Sunday evening with a convincing 3-1 victory at the Tallaght Stadium.
It was the away side who took the lead. Albin Ramadani was found in space, 25-yards from goal, and his hopeful effort deflected into the corner of Mark Travers' net.
Ireland were soon back on level terms. The relentless Tyreke Wilson found Thomas Byrne in space on the right side of the area and he rounded the keeper to score in the 24th minute.
Nine minutes later, Ireland went ahead through West Bromwich Albion's Zach Elbouzedi. A loose pass across the Austrian back-four from Manuel Thurnwald was latched onto by Elbouzedi who raced through to slot home under the keeper.
Just before the break, Austria were reduced to ten men as the goal-scorer Ramadani was involved in an off-the-ball incident.
The ten men almost equalised with seven minutes left as Florian Hainka hit the bar from Oliver Filip's cross but Ireland sealed the victory in the final minutes as Jayson Molumby tapped home from close range.
Under 19s Head Coach Tom Mohan was delighted after the final whistle and admits there will be plenty of competition for places going forward.
He said: "It's been a great week for us, we've been able to have a proper look at all of the players and we've been impressed with what we've seen.
"I thought we were unlucky to go behind today but the players responded really well and showed excellent composure in front of goal to score three goals.
"We were able to make a lot of changes today and have a look at a few other players. There is going to be competition for places as there was a few missing out of this squad as well.
"Across the Under 21s, Under 19s, Under 18s and Under 17s, we work very closely together in selecting players and to give these players international exposure is excellent for us."
