
Recognition for Football For All International players
On the night, there were caps presented to:
- Irish Homeless World Cup teams of 2015, 2016 and 2017
- Irish Cerebral Palsy Players across 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017
- Irish U-19 FFA Schools Teams across 2013 – 2017
- Irish Powerchair Team of 2014 and 2017
- Irish Blind Team of 2017
- The Irish Men’s Deaf Team of 2016 and 2017
Ireland men's senior team manager Mick McCarthy and assistant coach Terry Connor joined FAI Vice President Noel Fitzroy helped with the presentations as six different teams were honoured for their service over the past five years.
Amongst the teams being recognised were the Irish Homeless World Cup squad who secured the Plate in 2016, the Cerebral Palsy side won clinched bronze at the 2018 IFCPF European Championships, and the Blind players who competed in a first ever official international tournament.
With the help of numerous coaches, volunteers and administrators, each of the teams achieved remarkable results as a collective while their own individual performances were recognised with the awarding of an international cap.
McCarthy, who earned 57 senior caps with Ireland as a player, knows just what it means to the players and their families to recieve such a valuable reward and he was delighted to be part of the proceedings.
