Quinn and Carrig secure Regions Cup roles

The Football Association of Ireland are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ross Carrig and James Quinn as Regional Managers as preparations continue towards the UEFA Regions Cup 2023.

Ross and James will work with the respective regions before a play-off, at a date to be confirmed, to determine which side will represent the FAI for the UEFA Regions Cup 2023 campaign. The winning manager will join the backroom team working with Gerry Davis as the Head Coach for the qualifying phase in October.

Speaking upon his appointment, Ross Carrig who was a member of Ireland’s 2015 Regions Cup winning team, spoke of his aspiration to be part of a similar journey.

“I am honoured to be selected as Region One Manager. It is a great opportunity for me to pass on my knowledge and experience of Regions Cup football to the next generation of players," said Carrig.

“As a past player and winner of the UEFA Regions Cup, I now have a chance to give this group of players the opportunity to play on the biggest UEFA amateur stage under the management of Head Coach Gerry Davis.

“I would like to thank the FAI, Gerry (Davis), my family and special thanks to Kilbarrack United staff and players for giving me this opportunity” added Carrig.

Carrig’s opposite number James Quinn also spoke of his delight at being appointed to the role. “It is a great honour to be selected as Head Coach for Region 2. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with the squad to compete against Region 1 in the play-off fixture.”

Ireland have been drawn in Qualifying Group 6 for the UEFA Regions Cup alongside San Marino, Romania and Bulgaria who will host the October matches.
