New date set for Georgia v WNT

The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier between Georgia and the Republic of Ireland Women's National Team has been rescheduled.
8th Sep 2021

The game was originally due to take place on Friday, September 17 in Tbilisi, but the Football Association of Ireland submitted a request to the Georgian Football Federation and UEFA to change the fixture due to the unavailability of UK-based players.

With Georgia placed on a red list by UK Government due to concerns over COVID-19, Ireland Manager Vera Pauw would have been unable to call on several players from UK-based clubs for the first qualifying game in Group A.

The game will now be played in the June 2022 window with an exact date still to be agreed.

On Thursday, Pauw will unveil her squad for the International Friendly against Australia on Tuesday, September 21 at Tallaght Stadium.
