IRELAND U21 boss Noel King is excited about working with a new crop of players starting with a Saturday evening friendly game against Qatar's Olympic team in Aachan, Germany (6.00pm Irish).

King will be handing out a host of first appearances at this level with Manchester City goalkeeper Ian Lawlor, Cork City defender Brian Lenihan and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Darragh Lenihan amongst those appearing under King for the first time. Darragh Lenihan will also captain the side.

"It's always exciting working with a new crop of players and this game will be very useful for us," said King.

"All of the players have come in and their attitude has been spot-on. We are looking to bed in our ideas with them and see how the respond to what we ask them to do.

"The fact that Qatar are older than our lads will be an added plus as it's going to be a really good test for them.

"This is a game that is all about building for the future and everything has gone well so far."
