King announces Ireland U21 squad for Norway friendly
REPUBLIC of Ireland U21 head coach Noel King has announced his squad for a friendly international against Norway next month.
King’s charges will face the Norwegians in Drammen and the Irish boss is looking forward to working with his young squad having used a similar squad in a friendly against Qatar in May and in their final UEFA Championships qualifier away to Germany last month.
The Irish boss believes that there is a talented batch of young players for him to work with in the seasons to come. They will play their next competitive game in 2015.
"There's a couple of changes from the last squad with Will Hayhurst, Alan Browne and Danny Rogers coming in,” said King.
“The few changes we made are more about just having a look at the players eligible for this squad as best we can more than anything else.
“We hope to use everybody at some stage and see what they are like in game situations for us.
"Already we’ve seen in the two games that we’ve had them in for and they've shown some great competitive qualities. In this group are some players excellent character and we're looking to get the best out of them that we can get.
"We're also playing the USA and Russia U20s in November so that's tremendous preparation for next year. We’ll have had four games with them and will have had a good look at a lot of players. We hope to keep adding to the squad as we go.”
