Irish U17s beat Bohemians U19s in training game
Lucan United striker Jamie Aherne made a big impression with a second half hat-trick after the first half had ended scoreless.
Aherne opened the scoring two minutes into the second half when he turned the ball home from close range after good work by Luke Wade-Slater.
Just over two minutes later Aherne scored again when he intercepted a back pass and slotted the ball past Bohs keeper Dean Mahon.
Limerick FC defender Cillian Brouder headed Tom Mohan’s side further ahead in the 80th minute when he connected with a Jesse Stafford-Lacey corner.
Aherne completed his hat-trick when he found the net with a shot from distance in the 83rd minute.
Bohemians pulled one back through Martin Cassin less than a minute later after he had followed up after an initial good stop from Corey Chambers.
Irish head coach Tom Mohan said: “It was another good run out for the players after we had the other group in on Tuesday against the Irish Schools.
“The two games have given myself and the staff plenty of food for thought and there will ultimately be a lot of very talented players who may not make the cut for the qualifiers in March simply due to the quality of options we have.”
