THE REPUBLIC of Ireland Women's U19 side will face Norway in a friendly game at Dublin's AUL Complex tomorrow (7.00pm).

Dave Connell's squad have ramped up their preparations for this summer's UEFA Women's U19 Championships Final tournament which is being held in Norway.

The Irish have been grouped with England, Sweden and Spain in Group B and they are working through an intensive training programme with Connell and his staff to prepare for the finals.

"This is an important game for us," said Connell. "The girls are looking very good in training. We'll look to use around 18 players tomorrow and the others will play in another training game in Cork on Friday.

"A game like this is always a tough assignment but we've had good results recently so we're confident of doing well. The return of Katie McCabe and Clare Shine after injuries is positive. They are looking sharp.

"It's a good test. We'll go for the experienced players in this game – the girls who got us there with the addition of Katie – but I won't be ruling out one or two younger players."

"It's about quality opposition. Norway are the tournament hosts and are always strong at women's level. We're expecting a tough game. They'll play Scandinavian style and it creates its own problems but we want to really impose our game on them too.

"We've looked good attacking wise in training. We've defended well in qualifiers and we want to build continuity from those games. It's exactly what we need."
