Ireland to host Oman in 'Three' friendly

The Republic of Ireland's first match after UEFA EURO 2016 will be a 'Three' International Friendly against Oman at Aviva Stadium on Wednesday, August 31.

The fixture will act as a crucial warm-up game for Martin O'Neill's team ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign which kicks off five days later away to Serbia on September 5.

Ireland have met Oman twice before in friendly internationals - winning 4-1 in September 2012 and 2-0 in September 2014 - and this will be their second visit to the Aviva Stadium.

Managed by former Real Madrid boss Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, Oman are 99th on FIFA's World Rankings and recently finished second in their qualifying group for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
