Ireland to face Brazil

The Football Association of Ireland this evening (December 20) announced that the Republic of Ireland has accepted an invitation from international sports event promoter Kentaro to play a friendly against Brazil, five times world champions and current favourites to win the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Football Association of Ireland this evening (December 20) announced that the Republic of Ireland has accepted an invitation from international sports event promoter Kentaro to play a friendly against Brazil, five times world champions and current favourites to win the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The friendly will take place at the beginning of March. Kentaro have yet to decide on the venue but are looking at a number of options in Ireland and the UK, including London, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin. Further details will be made available by Kentaro over the next month.

2010 will also see Giovanni Trapattoni's side play the inaugural international match at Aviva Stadium on August 11 against Argentina.
