Ireland ready for Welsh Test
UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 Qualifier Preview
Republic of Ireland v Wales
Turner’s Cross,
Saturday, June 16th, 5pm
Sue Ronan’s Republic of Ireland Senior Women’s International squad face the first of their two huge qualifiers when they play Wales at Turner’s Cross in Cork on Saturday at 5pm. The squad have been together in Cork since Tuesday and preparation has gone well for the games.
Niamh Fahey will be the only absentee from the squad on Saturday as she serves a suspension picked up at the Scotland match. Cork striker, Denise O’Sullivan today linked up with the squad in spite of sitting her last Leaving Certificate exam this morning.
Wales will be without the influential Arsenal player, Jayne Ludlow, who is recovering from injury and has been replaced by Cardiff’s Lauren Price.
Speaking about the match Ireland head coach, Sue Ronan, said ‘Preparations have gone well this week, the girls have worked hard and they know how we want to play against Wales. The focus of the country has been on the men over in Poland but we can create our own piece of history here and that is what we are working towards. We have a strong group here and with a vocal Cork support behind us I am sure that we can get the boost we need before we play Scotland on Thursday.’
