The Republic of Ireland Under-21s depart for Switzerland today, with four changes to the squad originally announced for the double-header UEFA European Championship qualifying matches against Switzerland and Turkey.

Cillian Sheridan (called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad), Stephen Gleeson (back), James McCarthy (knee) and Aaron Doran (ankle) have all been ruled out, and will be replaced by Adam Rooney (Inverness CT), Richie Towell (Celtic), Graham Carey (Huddersfield Town) and Robbie Brady (Manchester United).

Rooney has seven previous caps for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s, while Carey has represented his country five times at this age level. Both Towell and Brady have been capped at Under-19 level but this will be their first involvement in the Under-21 squad.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21s face Switzerland on Friday before taking on Turkey next Tuesday.
