Defence Forces in group decider against USA

After last night’s Irish and USA defeats by both Qatar and Mali respectively in the 2nd CISM Military World Cup in Oman, it’s all to play for in the Irish Defence Forces final Group C game against the USA.
20th Jan 2017

Ireland must try and get the second-place spot, but there are a few variables that need to happen. Already qualified Qatar need to beat Mali, and the Irish have to get a better goal difference to qualify – but it’s possible.

The USA Vs Ireland game will be played in the 30,000 seat Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Stadium on Saturday 21st January at 5pm local time (1pm Irish), with a good crowd expected.

The Irish manager and coaches put their players through light training on Friday morning and took the pressure off the squad by not announcing the team sheet for the final game until hours before kick-off on Saturday.

The CISM Tournament will be broadcast live on Oman Live and Oman Sport TV Channels, and the tournament has its own dedicated website:
