Clifford and Davies earn U21 call-ups
Conor Clifford (Chelsea) and Scott Davies (Reading) have been called into the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad ahead of Tuesday night’s UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifier against Switzerland at the RSC, Waterford (kick-off 7.45pm).
Clifford (pictured) and Davies have been added to the squad to replace Stephen Gleeson, who is suspended for the match following his yellow card against Georgia on Friday night, and Darren Dennehy, who withdrew from the squad due to injury prior to the Georgia match.
This is the first time that Clifford, who is captain of the Republic of Ireland Under-19 squad, has been called into the Under-21 set-up. Scott Davies has one cap for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s, having made his debut in last month’s 1-1 draw against Estonia.
Tickets for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 match against Switzerland at the RSC are priced €15 for adults and €5 for Under-16s and can be purchased through Ticketmaster outlets or from John Ryan’s shop on Patrick’s Street in Waterford.
