Ireland WU17: Defeat to Germany in Elite Round

Colin Bell's side needed to win the game to have any chance of qualifying for the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship, but Germany proved too much for Ireland.
Goals from Emilie Bernhardt and a penalty from captain Ivana Fuso guaranteed Germany's spot in this summer's Finals.
Speaking after the game, Head Coach Colin Bell said he was proud of the performance put in by the team, despite conceding two goals.
"We reduced Germany to a penalty and a free-kick. Other than that they didn't have once clear chance from open play.
"There were positives to take from all three games, but plenty to learn too. The girls will take the experience with them into next season"
Iceland's 3-1 win over Azerbaijan in Group 7's other match, mean Ireland finished in third place.

Ireland WU17: Bell's side ready to test European champions

Colin Bell's side know they must defeat the reigning European Champions if they are to qualify for the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship in Lithuania later this summer.
Speaking ahead of the game, Bell said preparations are going well in Greifswald.
"We had a training session this morning, and worked on some final tactics, and we will prepare this afternoon to pinpoint some of Germany's weaknesses.
"They are the European champions of this age group. You're not going to be playing against better teams at this level.
Bell has seen Wednesday's opponents defeat Azerbaijan and Iceland in their opening two games and has been impressed with what he has seen.
"They're a top team. We know what we're up against. It's up to us to find a way of stifling Germany's strengths.'
Despite playing two games in the past six days, Bell expects to have a full squad to choose from ahead of the final Elite Round match.
