Stephen Kenny speaks to IT Carlow students
The three year degree course is the only one of its kind in Ireland and is delivered in association with the FAI.
Kenny spoke virtually to the Second and Third Year students on the course, and with the help of FAI Head Performance Analyst Gerard Dunne, spoke about his time in charge of the Senior and Under-21 international teams.
Many of the students on the CW827 course are coaching with local teams, and are on the FAI Coach Education ladder. They quizzed the Republic of Ireland manager on a wide variety of topics including his coaching philosophy, the roles of Sports and Performance Analysts in the International setup and the forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Stephen Kenny’s presentation is the latest in a series of Webinars that will be given to the IT Carlow students in the coming weeks as part of the CW827 course. FAI CEO Jonathan Hill and League of Ireland Director Mark Scanlon spoke to the students on Friday morning, with more FAI Departments to present in the coming weeks.
IT Carlow Programme Assistant Tom Elmes chaired Friday afternoon’s presentation, and he told FAI.ie, how beneficial it is to the students.
“It’s a great opportunity for our students to get such exposure to the FAI, with the recent restructure it has been great to give them an in depth insight into the wider world of football and the potential employment opportunities available to them.
“Having people like Stephen and new CEO Jonathan Hill be only too happy to come on and talk to the students, is fantastic and shows the importance they put on the course”.
