The Football Association of Ireland expressed its sincere condolences to the family and teammates of Belvedere under 16 player, Shetemi ‘Shay’ Ayetigbo, who died tragically during a DDSL match against St Kevin’s Boys at Shanowen Road.

Emergency services were called immediately and the club’s defibrillator was deployed but sadly it was not enough to save the life of young Shetemi.

Speaking today, FAI CEO John Delaney said, “We  were shocked to hear about this tragedy. Our hearts go out to Shetemi’s family, teammates and both clubs involved. Our prayers are with them at this deeply sad time.”
