Preview: Bobby Smith Memorial Cup Final
The competition, which named after the late Bobby Smith who was a co-ordinator on the first FAI/ETB course in 2004, sees ETB centres from around the country compete against each other.
This year will see finalists from Cork and Dublin go head-to-head in what is the sixth year of the tournament.
Mick Conroy’s Carragaline ETB progressed from the southern section of the tournament with wins against Waterford and Blarney and will be determined to bring silverware home from the capital city.
Their squad boasts two SSE Airtricity League of Ireland players James McSweeney and Matthew Lamb of Cobh Ramblers and a further four players who play at U19 League of Ireland level - Robert Osborne, John Ward, Conor Walsh and Kevin Williams.
Irishtown ETB have a 100 per cent record heading into the final which includes a 3-1 away win away at Castlebar and a 4-3 home win against Clondalkin to secure top spot in their group.
Standout players for Gerry Davis’ team include Paul Fox and Aaron Byrne of Cabinteely and Luke Nolan of Bray Wanderers.
