Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup holders Dundalk were drawn against Shelbourne FC in this evening’s Second Round draw at Aviva Stadium.

Stephen Kenny’s side secured a home draw against the Reds as they seek to continue their impressive cup record. 

“We got Shels at home last year in the Second Round and went on to win the cup so hope it’s a good omen,” said captain Stephen O’Donnell.

“We don’t want to be one of the shocks in this round so we’ll have to be fully focused. We may have caught them on an off day last year so can’t take anything for granted.

“The Cup Final is the biggest day of the Irish football season so we’d love to go back there again.”

Munster Senior League side Midleton got a tough away draw at Shamrock Rovers while St Patrick’s Athletic host FAI Junior Cup Finalists Pike Rovers from Limerick.
