The North Dublin club was formed over 140 years ago by employees of the local Glasnevin cemetery but in the present day, the club continues to engage with it's local community and go from strength to strength.

The club operates over 16 boys and girls teams every week and also a junior & senior Football for All team, and also an Academy every Saturday for 4-7 year-olds. The club has seen the participation grow over the last few years with over 300 players actively involved each week and 40 coaches and volunteers.

Glasnevin prides itself on being a positive, friendly and safe environment to play football in and welcomes all sections of the community and FAI Development Officer Neil Keoghan has praised the club following the award.

"Glasnevin have put in a huge amount of effort behind the scenes to achieve this award and I'm delighted for the officials who've made this happen," said Keoghan.

"It is a club at the centre of it's community and has a dedicated base of volunteers who make the club tick each and every week. With people like Matthew Nugent at the club and the forward-thinking vision, and also Declan Coyle, who is the senior club Chairperson.

"It is a club with enormous potential and undoubtedly, the club are going to continue to go from strength to strength over the coming years."
