It was a great day for Galway & District League who had an unbeaten day across U14 and U16 level. The U16 side recorded wins over Midlands Schoolboys/girls League and Clare Schoolboys/girls Soccer League whilst the U14 side recorded a 3-0 win over Wexford and District Womens League.

Metropolitan Girls League U16 side also had a strong start to the tournament with a 3-0 win over Limerick County followed up by a 4-0 win over Kilkenny and District League.

Other impressive results included Sligo Leitrim & District League's 4-0 win over Cork Women's & Schoolgirls Soccer League at U14 level in one of the first matches of the day. A five-goal thriller between Cork Women's & Schoolgirls Soccer League and Mayo Schoolboys/Girls and Youths League saw the Rebels triumph in a brilliant opening day at the 2017 Fota Island Resort Gaynor Tournament.
