FAI ETB select faces home-based U19s
Harry McCue will lead the FAI ETB select who feature a number of players currently playing in the SSE Airtricity League.
“Games likes this are a good opportunity for the players on the FAI ETB Player Development courses to showcase their qualities to the Republic of Ireland U19 head coach Tom Mohan,” said McCue.
“We played a similar game last year and a number of players made a good impression.”
Mohan believes the game will afford him the opportunity of assessing many of the top young players in the country ahead of the new UEFA campaign.
“There are a lot of good players in the FAI ETB squad who’ve done well this season so it’s a good game to get at this stage. We’re putting a training camp together in August and it’s important we look at the players who are doing well at home,” he said.
“Last year’s game was a very useful exercise. Some of the players we’ll be looking at have already played first team football in the SSE Airtricity League and have also made a good impression in the U19 National League.”
