FAI Club Mark awarded to Raharney United

Raharney United have been awarded the FAI Club Mark.

Raharney United was formed in 2003 by a group of local people who identified the need to provide another sporting facility for the young people of Raharney. The club is based between Killucan and Raharney in the East of County Westmeath.

Father David Brennan was one of the original founders of the club in 2003, with the club then based in the Raharney Primary School and initially setup for the participation in community games.

Raharney United have achieved a lot of success on and off the pitch. The club has won trophies at Senior Men, Seniors Women and underage levels.

The club also is home to an Academy which has grown from strength to strength since its commencement 3 years ago.

Raharney United opened a new state of the art fully lit 40m x 60m all-weather pitch in 2019 with the aid of a grant from Westmeath Community Development and fundraising by club members. This has added to what is a fantastic facility for the local community. The club has an excellent walking track which is used by members and locals young and old. The club has also fostered strong relationships with some of the other clubs in the area.

Presently, Raharney United have approximately 250 members, an academy, five underage teams playing in the MSL league and two adult teams playing in the CCFL league.

Raharney United are very proud and excited to be awarded the FAI Club Mark. This will help the club in so many ways to move forward in confidence and to raise standards on and off the field of play. The club would like to thank all previous and current members, sponsors, local businesses, volunteers and parents for all their support.

The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:

  • Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’
  • Establish and promote best practice
  • Empower and support clubs
  • Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards
  • Increase a club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.
