IT Blanch - Club Mark

FAI and IT Blanchardstown combine for Club Development

IT Blanchardstown (ITB) have completed a preliminary evaluation of the FAI Club Mark scheme, after consultations with the FAI.
4th Dec 2018

The evaluation was based on a series of questions sent to a key person in each club who have achieved the FAI Club Mark Entry Level Award.

The Club Mark has assisted clubs in ensuring that they have appropriate structures in place. The benefit of the scheme can be best summarised by one of the interviewees who stated the following:

‘Yes, it gives parents and members the knowledge that our club is managed correctly, and that their children will be in a safe environment.’

The report was completed by Dr. Francis McGeough of ITB. This established link with an academic institution has enabled the FAI to implement an evidence based approach towards grassroots development.

The FAI Club Mark is an award for grassroots clubs based on best practice in the governance, management and administration of a football club. Clubs start their journey at Entry Level, and can progress onto the One Star Award. Each step challenges the club to implement policies and procedures in line with best practice.

The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:

➢ Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’
➢ Establish and promote best practice
➢ Empower and support clubs
➢ Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards
➢ Raise standards across all clubs
