Corduff FC 1 College Corinthians AFC 3
The sides were level at the break after an eventful opening half that produced a goal apiece in the first eight minutes.
After the break, it was nip and tuck between these well-matched sides but College Corinthians got their nose in front with just over 20 minutes remaining to go ahead and finally seal a famous win with a third goal six minutes from time.
College Corinthians struck first on four minutes and against the run of play when centre forward Harvey Skieters was taken down in the box by Ben Good and Luke O’Donnell calmly put away the spot-kick past goalkeeper Adam Flinter.
Corduff were back on level terms within minutes with Luke Kearns beating goalkeeper Jack O’Leary with a well struck effort after great build-up play by Eddie Amusat and Anthony Mihutescu.
Both sides then had let offs with offside calls ruling out goals at either end.
First Kearns pinpoint pass found King Obular and he fired past O’Leary but the assistant produced a flag to cancel it out.
Shortly after skilful play saw the College Corinthians impressive striker Harvey Skieters hold up the ball and glide past Good to beat Flinter with a rising shot but again the flag was raised and the score remained 1-1.
The second half was a much more cagey affair until the 68th minute when Corinthians substitute Conor O’Sullivan found Matthew Broderick with a cross from the left and he made no mistake beating substitute keeper Aaron Kiernan with a left-footed finish from just inside the box.
O’Sullivan then went on to seal the Cork side's victory when he smashed home a third goal, a spectacular finish from distance that sailed past a helpless Kiernan into the top corner.
The win gave the Cork side their first ever National Under 17 cup success in a season that also saw them net 44 goals in this competition.
