Mungret Regional Football Club was established in 1971 and they are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year.
The club which is situated at Rathmale, Mungret, Co. Limerick has over 450 registered players, 60 coaches and numerous committees. Over the next 10-15 years, the club plans to develop their newly purchased 8.5 acres of land into playing pitches.
Mungret Regional F.C. has six Junior teams competing in the Limerick District League, 27 underage teams in the Limerick District Schoolboys/girls League, five girl’s teams in the Limerick County District Underage League and one girls’ team in the Limerick Women’s Schoolgirl Soccer League.
In the past two years Mungret Regional F.C’s Junior A team has been promoted to the Premier Division. In 1988 the club were Premier League Champions and in 1994 they claimed the Munster Junior Cup. 2010 saw the Ladies team win the Munster Junior Cup.
This year the club has ten ex-Mungret Regional F.C players playing with various SSE Airtricity League or Ireland clubs across the country and one Northern Ireland league team.
Mungret Regional F.C. would like to thank all their coaches, committee, players, parents and all of their volunteers who helped to achieve this Club Mark award.
The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:
• Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’
• Establish and promote best practice
• Empower and support clubs
• Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards
• Increase a club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.
