Calendar Season Roadshow to take place in November
FAI Chief Executive John Delaney, FAI President Donal Conway and the Association’s Club and League Development Manager Ger McDermott will meet League and Club officials at all seven events where the calendar football season will be debated.
Speaking ahead of the opening workshop in Dublin’s Citywest Hotel on November 5th, FAI Chief Executive John Delaney said he was looking forward to the events and hearing the views of all in attendance.
“The calendar season is already in situ at the elite level of the game with our SSE Airtricity League and Continental Tyres Women’s National League seasons beginning in Spring and ending in Autumn.
“By March 2019, the majority of underage Leagues will have implemented the calendar season and the feedback from these Leagues has been very positive.
“Myself, Donal and Ger look forward to hearing the views of those in the seven venues. Everyone in attendance will be there because of their love of the game. We are all involved in football for the betterment of those who play it. I hope all sides can come with enlightened opinions in the coming weeks.”
FAI President Donal Conway hopes the events can prove fruitful for those in attendance.
“The desire of the Association is to ensure football is delivered throughout the year, subject to the fewest possible interruptions.
“There are undoubtedly challenges in effecting this change, but these challenges will be aired and logged during the Consultation process in the coming weeks.
“We are also providing assistance to the Leagues in a wide variety of areas, and from liaising with Leagues in the past two years, I am of the view that these challenges can be overcome.”
