Ballyjamesduff AFC earn FAI Club Mark

Ballyjamesduff AFC have become the first club from the Cavan-Monaghan Underage League to earn the FAI Club Mark.

The Cavan club was formed in 1989 and played all their matches on a pitch behind a local school.

In 2008, the club's Committee got together and built a new state of the art pitch and called it Cavan Box Park, on the Oldcastle Road. To date Ballyjamesduff AFC have 16 teams where they all play their matches in the Cavan-Monaghan Underage League. Ballyjamesduff AFC provides football for boys and girls from age 5-16 year olds 

The club have had players that participated in the Cavan Monaghan Emerging talent programme with some players moving on from Cavan Monaghan Emerging talent to play in England. Ryan O'Reilly (Stoke City) and Jake Doyle Hayes (Aston Villa) have both represented their country at underage levels.

Sean McEvoy was part of the Ireland Under-17 team that played in the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He now plays with Bray Wanderers.

The club play all their games in the Cavan Monaghan Underage League and over the years they have being very successful winning Leagues and Cups at different age levels.

Ballyjamesduff AFC would like to thank the FAI's Cavan Regional Development Officer Tom Heffernan, former FAI Cavan Regional Development Officer Tom Mohan, FAI Monaghan Development Officer John Crudden and Cavan Monaghan Underage League for their support in helping them achieve the FAI Club Mark Entry Level.

The club would also like to thank all the committee members, managers, coaches, players, volunteers and sponsors past and present who assisted Ballyjamesduff AFC throughout the years to operate the club.

The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:

•          Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’

•          Establish and promote best practice

•          Empower and support clubs

•          Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards

•          Increase a club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.
